About Me

I started carving when building a toddlers rocking horse for my one year old daughter.  After having put most of it together I got to the head.  The instructions suggested that I could carve the head and showed me how to do it.  I decided that the carving was easier than trying to join two bits together and I haven't looked back!  Over 35 years later, my daughter now has children of her own who have just outgrown it.

For most of the years up until now I have had limited time for carving but now I've retired I can spend more time creating interesting things for myself and accepting commissions from all sorts of people.

Having recently bought a lathe to replace the one my Dad gave me many years ago I am currently exploring the opportunities of bringing the two crafts together.  The bowl here is the latest where the inside and very top edge were turned before the rest was carved away by hand.

I'm lucky to live in the village of Edge near Painswick in the Cotswold area of England
